There are several accommodation options, for a larger group there is a
three-bedroom apartment on the second floor but don’t worry because
there is a lift! It is very spacious and has a roll-in shower. There
is also a large balcony that overlooks the swimming pool. They also
have studio apartments available that are larger than the average
studio. Both #2 and #4 have a roll-in shower with plenty of room for a
hoist if need be. Studio #2 sleeps up to 3 people, studio #4 has a
king size bed and bunk beds in the adjoining room, perfect for 2
adults and 2 children. Both of these face a sheltered garden patio.
Any of the above mentioned would be quite suitable for electric
wheelchair or scooter users.
Along with the very spacious is the moderately spacious. Studios #7
and #8 have smaller bathroom areas that would be more suitable for
manual wheelchair users. For example, a hoist would fit into the
bathroom but it would be more comfortable in the other larger studios.
The advantage these two studios have is that they face the pool.
Some other features of the complex include a crystal clear swimming
pool with a remote controlled lift along with a roll in shower by the
pool area. No need to worry about airport transfers, you will be
picked up by a specially adapted vehicle with a ramp. During you stay
you will be able to escape the hustle and bustle of city life, swim in
the aqua blue sea, explore the nature of the Akamas and experience the
quaint and charming village life of Polis. The beach is a mere
20-minute push away and to get to the village square takes only 5
minutes. During the months of May through October three hour boat
trips can be arranged. The boat has a hoist but you must have upper
body strength to hold onto the sling.
For those with health concerns there is a doctor on call 24 hours a
day. If it is equipment that worries you than you will be happy to
hear about the local rental agency. They have electric hoists, manual
and electric chairs as well as motorized scooters. For a list of all
available equipment check out their website at:
www.paraquip.com.cy
The last but possibly most special feature of the island are the plans
for construction of a ramp at the local beach. This will enable
wheelchair users to travel above the sand and go directly into the sea
for a wade or swim!
